Ding, dong, the book is done!
Watson Guptill gave me one year, once again, I took two. Sorry, Joy, again....but, the last photos and final edit to the manuscript are done and in their capable hands.
Writing a book is a labor of love. It took 7 years for me to feel I had enough information to fill another book. It turned into two books. What I really did want was one book, one great big book. But, they said “no” and so there will be two. So, I said “well, they better be cheap!” and at 174 pages, 400 pictures (in each book), they’re priced at $19.95 each.
The surface part was most complete, so it will be the first. Surface techniques and some things that we just didn’t know what to do with! Please bear with us - naming it was hard. Most of the “Feat of Clay” show will be included in this book, too. Millefiori will be the focus of the second.
The book contains techniques using paints, inks, liquid clay, powders, and more. Among the “projects” you’ll find a cuff bracelet, two methods for making inro boxes, several setting methods, pigment inked beads, and my moth woman pendant (you can actually see her in “My Art” page 2).
My good friend, Miss Carol Duvall is writing the Forward. She said “I’ve been waiting for you to ask!”
In June, the first book on surface techniques will be out. The millefiori book will follow. To pre-order a signed copy of the surface techniques book, contact Vernon at Prairie Craft Co. Unsigned, the book can be pre-ordered from BarnesandNoble.com and Amazon.com. If you wish to mail or fax in an order, just use the “Order form pdf” link under the picture.
